  • Indian Food Composition Tables (IFCT 2017) by NIN, Hyderabad
  • ICMR Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) for Indians
  • National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) dietary guidelines

However, nutritional values can vary significantly based on ingredient quality, regional variation, cooking method, portion size, and preparation technique. The values presented should be treated as estimates, not precise measurements.

NutritionTracker does not guarantee the completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of any nutritional information and reserves the right to update content without notice.

The nutritional values available in our Food Database are derived from IFCT 2017 and supplementary Indian food databases. These are provided for informational reference only.

Nutrient content in real food can deviate from database values due to:

  • Seasonal and regional variation in produce
  • Cooking methods (boiling, frying, steaming) affecting nutrient retention
  • Brand-specific differences in packaged foods
  • Serving size estimation inaccuracies

Users requiring precise nutritional analysis (e.g. for clinical or athletic purposes) should use laboratory-tested values or consult a sports dietitian.

Health Calculators & Tools

The BMI, TDEE, BMR, ideal weight, and other calculators available on NutritionTracker use standard formulae (Mifflin-St Jeor, Harris-Benedict, etc.) validated for general adult populations. These tools provide estimates based on population averages and may not accurately reflect your individual physiology.

In particular:

  • BMI does not account for muscle mass, bone density, or fat distribution — it is a screening tool, not a diagnostic one.
  • TDEE estimates assume standard activity multipliers and may not reflect your actual energy expenditure.
  • Calorie targets generated are starting estimates and should be adjusted based on real-world progress.
